Same Ship. Same Owner. Still Sinking.

Let’s talk about the Pittsburgh Pirates — a team still operating like it’s 1925, completely out of sync with modern baseball. They reportedly lost $2 million before the gates even opened this season, and that losing mentality carried right over to the field.

Let’s be honest — the blame starts and ends with owner Bob Nutting. What would you expect from a guy who made his fortune running newspapers and ski lodges? This franchise was gifted Paul Skenes by the baseball gods and has wasted every damn second of him wearing black and gold.

I believe Paul when he says he wants to win here. But it’s tough when the guy up top mismanages the franchise and handcuffs a GM like Ben Cherrington.

Derek Shelton? He had to go. But don’t get it twisted — he was the sacrificial lamb. You try managing a team with one hand tied behind your back while your GM isn’t allowed to do his job.

Now they bring in Don Kelly, the Pittsburgh Kid. This is it. They cannot screw this up. Kelly is a respected name in baseball. He could coach anywhere. So Bobby… pay the man. Pay Paul. Spend money. Let Cherrington cook and build a damn contender.

Let’s make the Pittsburgh Pirates great again.

And if you can’t do that, Bob — it’s time to sell.
